Packing the Pantries with Goods (and Good Will)

December 16, 2015

‘Tis the season for… giving!

This year, Site Strategics had the opportunity to work with Mayor Ballard’s office, the Front Porch Alliance, and other partners across the city on Pack the Pantries, a city-wide effort that raises awareness about issues of hunger in our community. The initiative encourages residents to help their neighbors during the holiday season when the need is greatest. We jumped at the opportunity to help out with project management and social media expertise.

All Pack the Pantries donations benefit Midwest Food Bank and Gleaners Food Bank, which provide hunger relief to Indianapolis families. Since Pack the Pantries launched in 2008, the Front Porch Alliance under the leadership of Mayor Ballard has donated over 200,000 pounds of food and raised more than $100,000.

Site Strategics is also an official drop-off location for Pack the Pantries. Nonperishable items are being requested, but if you would prefer to donate money, the Givelify mobile giving app makes it easy.

Did you know donating just $10 this year will take care of feeding 30 people?

Visit the Pack the Pantries website to learn more, which also includes instructions on how to download the free Givelify mobile giving app. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

This Friday, December 18 marks the cumulative end to this year’s Pack the Pantries with the Caravan of Care. Stop by the City County Council building downtown Indianapolis at 11 a.m. to see all partners come together for a press conference. After the press event, all donated food will be caravaned over to Midwest Food Bank.
